Our Story

This whole thing didn’t kick off with a big plan, it started with tea, cake, and chats between neighbours.

When Simi moved in a couple of doors down from Laura, they hit it off straight away. Laura has three girls, Simi has three boys, and they both cared about the same stuff, kids, the environment, recycling, and making their little corner of the world better.

Then they found out they were born on the same day (wild, right?) and the ideas just started flowing. Morning beach jogs turned into brainstorming sessions about life, family, and eventually… the park.

Lions Park was lovely, but it didn’t feel like it welcomed everyone. They started dreaming about a space that did, something inclusive, fun, and full of heart. They asked around, got excited, hit a few walls (“You’ll need to go through Council”), and let it go for a bit.

But the idea kept coming back. They’d send each other pics of amazing parks from around the country and say, Why not here? Why not us?

Then came their first meeting with a local MP. Laura and Simi were invited to stay and meet the next appointment, Emily and Jaya, who were scheduled in right after them to talk about putting in another skate park in the community. And just like that, our group of passionate people grew to four.

Now, that little spark has grown into a full-blown community project. It’s backed by the Lions and supported by locals of all ages. And it’s not just about swings and slides, it’s about connection, community and creating a space where everyone feels welcome.

Funny how a simple chat over tea can turn into something so big.
